Im 19 and over weight. i was on the injection and most of my weight gain is from that. Im finding it hard to find a diet suitable for me

Dieting is VERY hard. It is more sense to make small changes to your everyday routine. For example, eat smaller portions. Eat SLOWLY! Chew food properly so it is baby food consistency before swallowing. Buy low-fat versions of food, such as Muller Light yogurts. Look at everything you cook and think if there is a healthier way to cook it. Have 3 meals a day- no snacks except fruit. Don't eat after 7pm. Get used to that feeling of genuine hunger before you eat. Switch your brain onto "hunger=good" because it means your body is burning the fat stores. THEN step up the exercise. Find things you enjoy doing- swimming? Walking? Get a mate to go with you and make a regular date. Eat wholefoods- ie- banish any kind of processed food. Cook from scratch so you know what it is in it! Stir fry food using "Fry-light" spray. Find things to do in your spare time that don't involve eating- you will enjoy yourself so much you won't think about food. Finally, keep a food diary and try and work out WHY you overeat. Boredom? Stress? Sadness? Loneliness? These are the real issues to sort out, which you are expressing through food.

Don't go for 'low fat' it will lead you to buy high carbohydrate products. Look at the calories per 100g. There is nothing wrong with fat, we need it to live. If the 'low fat' option contains less calories then fair enough. Just remember that eating fat doesn't make you fat. All food must be processed in the body before it is burnt or stored.

Stuff it, back on, try Dr Atkins, buy the book and stick to it.
I am actually using a system at the moment that incorporates a lot of the things scarlett has suggested, Paul McKenna'a "I can make you thin" is working well for me (I am about 6 stone overweight). You can buy the book which you can read in a couple of hours. It's not a diet but more a lifestyle change which uses just four "rules":- 1 Eat when you're hungry. 2 Eat whatever you want. 3 Eat conciously and enjoy every mouthful. 4 Stop when you think you are full. Very simple and not rocket science! I have lost a stone in the past 5 weeks and although that may not sound much, a slow gradual weight loss that is achieved without depriving myself and feeling hungry all the time suits me just fine! Whatever you decide, good luck x
