Allopurinol side effects

I have recently started a course of Allopurinol and among the effects are light sensitivity and a frequent sense of odd smells .Am I alone in this or has anyone else had similar reactions?

I don't know about those reactions, but alopurinol can ahve an effect on kidneys. I was on it for about a year and got pain in my kidneys. Gave it up and the pain went. Not much gout either (touch wood)
