over the past few days i've had a strong burning sensation when i need to pass urine.
i also noticed that there was blood in it too.

any ideas to what it could be?
and will it pass?
or should i see a doctor?
i can't say i really fancy having someone having a 'probe' down there, so any advice would be greatly apreciated

Nat I would say for sure that you really need to get to a doctors, passing blood shouldnt be ignored.

OMG I so dont know where I got passing blood bit from!!

Sounds like a touch of thrush maybe, get some natural yogurt (take it orally!!)
nothing too much to worry about can be caused by washing too much!

n b ; having thrush does not cause blood in your urine re the burning may be a bladder infection, but this is not nhs 24, where you should be asking this question, hope your better soon
Nat
It may well be an infection but you really ought to consult your GP sooner than later
Hope everything is okay
Sounds like cystitis (bladder infection. Go to see your GP as you will certanly need antibiotics. Only if it doesn't settle after a course of antibiotis would you need further investigation including "having a probe down there"
Ring NHS direct now
Seems a bit unfair on NHS direct, when this could be dealt with by your GP tommorrow.
"Panic Button" is well named
Blood in the urine, and you are suggesting this person doesn't ring an advice service for advice!
Also why bother the GP if the advice service set up to relieve pressure on them can deal with it?

Idiot
Poor old "Panic Button" who has rattled your cage today.
Would NHS direct be able to write prescription for antibiotics? Would NHS direct be able to refer to hospital for investigation? The advice would almost certainly be either to go to your GP next day or go to Casualty Dept.
Yours truly IDIOT M,B: F.R.C.S
I never suggested NHS Direct could treat the condition, but Nat was asking for advice Today.

I suggested a way to get advice Today, for a condition that sounded to me as if it might need urgent attention.

You took the mickey out of me and said this concerned person should continue worrying until tomorrow.

Is FRCS for chartered surveyors? So does that qualify you medically?
Good morning PB
No FRCS does not make me a Chartered Surveyor, but yes FRCS does make me medically qualified. How about the MB bit might I suggest it stands for Miserable ******.
Olive leaf...yes you are right, I did take the Mickey out of you and that was unacceptable, unforgivable, and i apologise unreservedly.
Friends??
P.S I wonder how Nat13 is?
Thanks and sorry for my manner, other factors have made me somewhat tense recently.

Nat, .I hope you are OK. I particularly owe you an apology for the abruptness of my original answer. It was rude, but meant with the best of intentions.
Pity I can't take you to dinner so that we could make up face to face, but c'est la vie.
All the best.
