It was recently discovered via x-ray that my coil is not in the cervix or womb but 'somewhere in my pelvic cavity'. This was my first check since the fitting (which was very painful after) My question is; Did this have to have perforated my womb during insertion, or is there any other way it could have moved outside the womb? I am waiting on a laparoscopy to locate and hopefully remove it. Many thanks.

I had a couple of IUDs go walkabouts and I also had a scan to try to locate them, however they never did find them because they almost certainly just fell into the toilet. I would imagine yours just fell out also, although of course I cannot say as I am not medically trained. Try not to worry, it's very common.

Thanks, it has shown up on the x-ray though. It is apparently not in the womb , but in the pelvic cavity. I don't think they'll know until they have a look inside.
That's awful! I really feel for you. I was considering Mirena but had no idea there was such a real risk of that problem (thought it was just 'textbook' examples). Hope it goes okay

Thanks, apparently the chances are around 0.3-9 % .
I had a mirena coil fitted. After months of bleeding and pain and being told it would settle down the thing came out. Strange experience!
