My other half has has recurring health problems for about a year and a half - he has had every test imaginable including brain scan etc but have not found anything wrong. Some of his symptoms are that he gets numbness down one side of his body - so much so that his left hand is very pale when compared to his right, he gets crackling in his ears, has difficulty sleeping, itching skin and burning skin (looks like sunburn) & headaches. We have managed to get some improvement by eliminating any household products with perfumes, not using fabric softeners and shampoo, however he is still affected by some of his clothes, computer screens, air conditioning and carpets - we think that it might be something to do with the static generated by these things, has anyone heard of anything like this, or are we mad?

annie - Don't ask me why, but when you reeled off those symptoms, I thought of maybe a mobile phones? Does he use one?
Question Author
Thanks for the response skyep - he rarely uses one and almost never used one before he became ill. We have wondered if we are in the line of a mast or something. We have also got rid of our cordless phones in the house which again helps a little but has not eliminated the problem. The problem with the clothes is driving us crazy, he tries things on shops and sometimes gets an immediate reaction but sometimes he might have worn something for a while before he starts to feel ill, by which point you can't return it as it is now "used" and not exactly faulty! He will be reduced to rags shortly! Thanks again for your response, I thnk that we will need to continue our process of elimination.
annie - If you enter 'crackling ears' in to the search bar at ask.co.uk, it will come up with E.T.D ( Eustachian tube dysfunction ) Have a look, what do you think? About 4 down the page.

Thanks for that skyep - good bit of research, but I don't think that is it. I have found something called electro magnetic hypersensitivity which seems to be close. I think that he will have to move to a shed in the middle of the wilderness!
annie - I feel very sorry for your husband. I suppose you will need to be a bit of a detective, hope you crack it very soon!

Thanks Skyep - we'll keep looking!
annie -In my evening paper tonight ( Manchester evening news) there is an article about a mum who is sensitive to electromagnetic fields, she has a lot of the symptoms your husband has! I thought of you straight away. If you would like me to post you the article to any chosen address, I will send it on to you.
