is it in the liver sort of area? only asking as you mention you go out drinking alot.

well just around one side, sharp shooting pains, ive tried not drinking for a few weeks but it makes no difference
is it in the rib cage sort of area or lower down? the best thing to do is keep a diary of when it hurts and ideas of what could be causing it eg drinking, exercise, certain foods.

i do remember a friend of mine having an infection in her liver once which had the same sort of symptons, but the whites of her eyes also went slightly yellow too.

mmm rib cage more id say
ha ha quite funny as i have recently been to the docs with pains in rib cage. my doc also was stumped. one suggestion they gave me was to do with the cartlidge between the ribs inflaming. however it is hard to diagnose. its called Costochondritis

this link can tell u more:

http://www.fibromyalgia-symptoms.org/fibromyal gia_chest_symptoms.html

when you next go the docs you could suggest this illness as a possible cause and see what they say perhaps?

ok thanks will do
A young (22) friend of mine had problems with pains in her side (and in and out of hospital for the past two years). She has just been diagnosed with Chronic Pyelonephritis - which is a kidney infection.
Which side wleshbeetle, left or right?
Question Author
left
Well the good news is that it is not your liver, which is not to say that you aren't harming it in some respect through alcohol (believe me I know). Basically all pain is subjective to the person, pain is not normaland you know your own body best, and you should consult your GP if only for peace of mind.

Good luck and hope all is well.

I had costochondritis for 2 years and it still flares up from time to time, it's extremely painful - affects ribs/chest/back. No known cause or treatment unforuntately.
