Ok so i had a few too many glasses of wine on Saturday night and felt a little off yesterday, but i have woken up this morning feeling like i have been in a fight. My back shoulders and stomach are so so tender its killing me!! Is this the after effects from alcohol or have i been beaten up in my sleep? Does anyone else get this?x

i get that feeling in my stomach, but not usually my shoulders :oS
Hello this is my first posting.

I also suffered from this for a long time.I found wine was especially bad, one glass could make me feel as though I'd gone 5 rounds with Mike Tyson.

I eventually plucked up the courage and went to the doctors. After having an emergency endoscopy I found out that I have a hiatus hernia and Barrett's Epithelium. A thickening of the esophagus caused by excess stomach acid - not nice at all. Having a very tender stomach, at the top of my rib cage was one of the symptoms - as I had left it such a long time it had got worse. If your symptoms persist, please see your doctor as soon as possible.

I hope I havent scared you and it probably is only a case of too much, but I really wouldn't want anyone else to leave it as long as I did.

Wow, scary stuff. Thanks for your reply, maybe i really ought to see my doctor about it. Yes it is worse after drinking wine, whether it be a glass or a bottle. I have tried changing my drink anf found that its not AS painful yet it is still sore. Did you find that it took a few days for the tenderness to wear off? If i drink on a saturday evening it takes me till at least tuesday to feel normal again, and i am only 24..x Hope you are ok now OFortuna. Thanks again. Pink.x
Hi Pink

Sorry to give you a fright. Definately get some advice about it from your GP if it takes that long to feel better.

Mine was a combination of a inherited weakness, having kids, stress, having kids, smoking, drinking and enjoying myself (and leaving it for such a long time that it is incurable as I didn't have the 'bottle' to go to the docs about it):D

Now I have to have an endoscopy every two years as it is prone to really nasty stuff and on tablets for the long term!

However, enough doom and gloom, all this has taught me one thing - if you feel ill - go and get it checked out a.s.a.p. - it doesnt matter if it turns out to be nothing.

Incidently this has not stopped me clubbing, gigging or going out, I have however cut down on the booze big time - no great problem - much more fun to be the sober one and take the p*** out of all your mates later :D

Take care and good luck.
