Just wondering...?

I have what i think is a verucca on the bottom of my big toe. I'm a female and have started playing football again after a few years out with injury to my knee. Anyway, when i took my boot off (after about 1 hour of football in blade style boots) there was an extremely large amount of blood over my sock and inmy boot - which seems to have come from the verruca... anyone know if this is normal??

Appreciate any help or advice.

Thanks

that sounds unlikely sounds more like a haematoma unless it was extremely vascular and was subjected to much friction

The thing is - its only small and looks like a verruca. Just wasn't sure whether it was normal for it to bleed so excessively? I mean i was playing for a long time, and in new boots - so i orignally suspected that maybe it was just the friction... Didnt feel any pain during or after football, only noticed when i took my boot off at home.

Is it normal to get a haematoma on the bottom of your toe though? Dont know much about them.

I have had veruccas which have bled before but not to that extent. Have you tried looking on the nhs site to see if there is any help there?
Question Author

Just had a look onthe NHS website now. Can't really see anything about veruccas bleeding.

Although it does say "Verrucas often have a black dot in the centre, surrounded by a hard, white area. The dot is the blood supply to the wart" - so maybe the friction has caused some damage there.

Well i'm playin football again this evening, if it happens again to the same extent - i'll start to worry.

Well i dont think i have the stomach to pick at mine, but i think i'll try some of that 'bazuka verruca' gel. If that doesn't work then i'll have to resort to the doctors.

If anyone else has had heavy bleeding from a verucca let me know what u done and why it happened. thanks.

Appreciate the help so far.

Hi Nat,

verruas don't bleed like that, so before you buy anything to put on it..please go get it checked out by your gp or a podiatrist.

good luck

But i can't stand going to my GP - just find they're useless and always feel like i'm wasting their time when i go because i'm dying....

Anyway, played footy last night and it didn't bleed. However, there are black things inside and around the suspected 'verruca'. I think these must be blood vessels..

Question Author
I meant wasting their time because i'm NOT dying....
so might be worth getting an appt with a podiatrist instead of your gp,just to get it checked out..i'm sure they won't make you feel like your wasting their time.

hope it's better soon
