My Granny has just broken her pelvis (playing table-tennis!! - that well known dangerous sport!) Anyone got any idea on the length of time she'll be in hospital? tia x

hi englishbird, sorry to hear about your gran, can't answer your question, but i hope she gets well soon.

anyway, what r u doing up so late?

impossible to say Englishbird, but grannies heal an awful lot more slowly than their grandchildren; bones get brittle, bodies get frail, even the table-tennis-playing sort. If she's really old you may find (as I did when my mum tripped over and broke her arm, in her 80s) that she loses self-confidence too and gets about less.
i guess it depends on whether it is a fracture or a real break, i would imagine to be imobile would be the worst part of it all, they can hardly put a pelvis in plaster.
Awww bless her Englishbird! I hope she gets better and is back to weilding a table tennis bat again soon!

Thanks guys, been to see her today and she's in remarkably good spirits concidering! She's 82, and a lively one at that. Was really worried about her losing confidence, but she seems ok for now, no more horse riding for her though!

They've cancelled the op twice already, which is annoying, apparently she's having it pinned. And they reakon she'll come out pretty soon after, which I find odd, surely they can't let her out until she can walk on it. Mind you I don't think she'll want to stay in that long as surrounded by some very strange people. I had to explain that it was probably the morphine making her feel sick and not the hospital pea soup.. mind you ...

And nattab, i was up drowning my man problems in red wine ;o) head is paying for it today mind!
