ive been doing some exercises to tone up..for example. crunches. when i tense my stomach muscles, i can see they are toned. but when i dont tense them..theres no difference. if i keep on with the toning exercises, will my stomach eventually be toned, even when im not tensing it?

i hope someone understands this!

The abdominal muscles play a huge role in your posture, whether you are lying down or standing up. Losing the fat layer above them will show that even the most inactive, yet slim people will have well a defined 'sixpack'.

Spot reduction of fat does not occur, so targeting one part of the body will not make you any thinner there. Endurance exercises are the only way to lose fat safely, and a simple brisk walk each day for 30 minutes will pay dividends, provided you eat sensibly.

I agree...you need to burn off fat - or you just end up with muscle under flab!!
