If you have asthma symptoms whatexactly is meant by shortness of breath?

Is it possible to only get a sensation tht you are not getting enough air, without wheezing/tightness or coughing and no change in resp rate? A sensation of air hunger is the only symptom I get (it started happening since I had a mild case of covid) but during these episodes I am breathing normally and can do normal activities. It is hard to describe the feeling- just that I need more air even though I am breathing normally. The sensation immediately triggers a feeling of dread and anxiety which lasts several minutes

I have nasal polyps and my dad has asthma/polyps so I feel I am destined to get asthma. I read that nasal polyps has worse asthma prognosis too.

Will asthma nearly always cause chest tightness wheezing? I have seen my gp he said I am at high risk for asthma and have been prescribed a brown inhaler to try - to take twice daily I think it has helped a little but not fully ?if it’s a placebo effect.
I have a low peak flow reading too (250-300) but I have always been this low I remember measuring it in a college class 2 decades ago and scoring this poorly

I don’t know what is going on with the air hunger thing. It is terrifying me though I have anxiety disorder but the breathing issue is making it worse.
