i had two scans several weeks ago, in Nuclear Medicine, they were body X Ray scans where i had to imbibe small doses of radiation.

As some know i have had trouble with constantly go to the loo, this has been over 8 months and its a problem that i can do without. I will get the results next week, but wondered if anyone sqad included could shed any light.

Possibly they were trying to follow the radiation on its journey from swallowing to your bowels an bladder to see if there were any issues with your workings.
I once had radiation injected into my toes and then lay in a scanner for 5 hours whilst they followed it on its journey.

luckily or not so to speak the first scan wasn't too long and the follow up scan only ten minutes. I hate small enclosed spaces, so was glad that it didn't take long.

sqad if you are about, any clues?
Just got out of the shower.
Do you really mean small doses of radiation or do you mean contrast dye.
If it was dye......then they would be looking for polyps or any sign of malignancy in the bowel.
However if it was small amounts of radiation...probably radioactive iodine, then a problem with your thyroid gland may well have been the target.
Almost any part of the body, may be visualised by enhanced scans with radioactive material, but thyroid is the commonest.

two capsules which i swallowed with water, that i was told was was a small dose of radiation, and that it wasn't harmful. that i would pee it out so to speak.
i had polyps taken out back in April.T
This was a different type of scan, lying down type and the X Ray Machine goes over you very slowly.
i will have result next week, but this whole process
has taken 8 months from the time i went to GP to now.
Question Author
i recall the registrar saying that this could all be down to thyroid. But i guess i didn't take that on board.
why would thyroid problems cause you to go to the loo so often, as i am still doing..
emmie it sounds like a whole body scan.
I am off to the Club now but will return to your thread.

Good morning emmie.......yes.
With radio active materials they will scan the whole of your gastro-intestinal tract, looking malignancy, bleeding and infections ( particularly the gall bladder).
That is it in a nutshell emmie.
