My eighteen month old grandson has little strands of wispy hair on the back of his head and a few unruly very fine curls but he has none on the top /front of his head. Is this unusual - just wondered if it could be a dietary problem.

If he has developed normally both in weight and in milestones, then the distribution of his hair is normal.

Thanks for your prompt reply Sqad. He does seem to be reaching his targets.
I'd say normal for some. My nephews hair didn't start growing until about that age.
Our daughter - who is now 33 and has a fantastic thick head of hair - didn't have any hair apart from a couple of wispy strands until she was nearly two! Her name is Kelly and we used to call her Kelliphant because she reminded us of a baby elephant with their wispy hair! She's a mum of three herself now and seems to have turned out OK despite our name calling!
