Hi

Every one is saying wine is good for health, but my doubt is whether wine is good for girls during pregnancy?

As with everything, 'moderation' is the key word.........
official guidance (in England) is not to drink any alcohol while pregnant
However, advice does change seemingly very regularly!
who is the 'everyone" who is saying that wine is good for health?
Moderation, exactly.
I had the odd glass of wine when preggers, but definitely not every day and only a small one.
Two people to consider here.a) the foetus b) the mother.

There is no benefit to the foetus in the mother drinking alcohol during pregnancy.

So what are the negatives?

I agree with JTH but it depends upon what one means by "moderation." as two glasses a week is the medical idea.

I agree fully with bednobs....no alcohol during pregnancy (if possible)
for the father as well sqad????
Makes no difference if the father drinks!
It might if he drinks in front of the mother and she can't!!!!!!!!
I could see that being VERY bad for his health lol
Well, me too, woofgang, tbh! :-)

Everyone (my friends)
I think red wine, in moderation is supposed to have some health benefits. But the thoughts on things like that seem to change daily, so I'm a bit sceptical. Are you worried about someone who's pregnant?
My view is that a couple of glasses of wine a week is not going to harm baby, but equally its not going to do baby any good - so why give your baby something that isnt good for them? In my current pregnancy I have had 3 small glassses of champagne and one small glass of red in 8.5 months and these were special occasions (my hen night, my wedding day and my birthday). This has been a pretty big sacrifice for me as I very much enjoy a drink but my baby's health and developement is more important than my enjoyment. I have a bottle of Sancerre in the fridge that my hubby is going to remind me in labour to help me get through it!
There was an article in the DM last week that's it's dangerous to live in an old house with coal fires and old lead-based paint if you're pregnant, as both give off lead emissions. It'll be dangerous to breathe, next.

I drank Wine all through OH's pregnancy,
Never caused a problem!
