you go to the hospital for a GTT i suppose!
i had one when i was PG - you have to eat a certain defined amount then have a test 2 hrs later. Or some places make you fast them make you drink a glucose drink then take the BT
I can remember having one when I was pregnant over 40 years ago because my mother was diabetic. I don't think I was allowed to eat that morning although I was at the hospital quite early. I think they took a sample of blood and then i had to drink some glucose. I had to wait in the corridor and then every half hour I was called in for a blood sample, a prick of a finger and occasionally I had to produce a urine sample. Altogether I was there about 3 hours as they keep monitoring how your blood copes with all that sugar. Of course, things could be done quite differently these days.

When you was PG bednobs -pregnant?
Interesting to know that the glucose tolerance test is still used.....in my opinion itnis only of limited value.

You will fast overnight and then next morning, a blood glucose level will be taken and then you will be given a measured amount of glucose to take by mouth. Then about 4 samples will be taken at regular intervals and the way your body deals with the " sugar load" will indicate if you are a true Type 2 diabetic or not.
yes, sorry i meant pregnant

For your interest Pusskin, a link to a site offering an overview of the GTT. It is a test that offers a degree of differential diagnosis.
