I have been having accupuncture weekly for a couple of months now, and I do not see any difference in my health issues, I was told they thought they could help me. I feel ready to give up.

Should also have said Tamaris, for all my good experiences with acupuncture, I don`t think for one minute if you have had eight sessions that it is going to work for your problem.
I cured years of cystitis through homeopathy.......another placebo effect I`m told. :-) But hey.....I`m the fittest sixty two year old I know and I avoid doctors! Back to putting on the new shed roof. x
Yes I can see your point LG it's a shame that people don't realise it won't work for everything. Jake it's a shame too that the practitioners "oversell" it, could bring it into disrepute like that. I personally think it works for some on pain relief as in my case and Craft's but unless that's pointed out to potential patients I guess some will be really disappointed.
Lol Gness - horses for courses and if you feel good then that's brill....wanna come and do my garage roof <smile>

Well I am disappointed as I said to them about a month ago I wasnt seeing any difference and they said they thought they could help me , so I carried on.
I only know from my own experience that it definitely helped with my pain. I cannot see that it can cure an existing condition like bladder problems. Can anyone tell me how you can possibly get 'sham' needles. It is not the actual needles that cure the pain but the places where the practitioner puts them. I know it an especially fine needle but that is all. There isn't any magic point to it or anything like that.
Cross post there Tamaris. Almost answered your question. I suffered from regular cystitis after the birth of my daughter. By the time she was 10 I was fed up with it and all the anti-biotics. Decided to try homeopathy as a last resort. It worked despite my scepticism. Just one session and pills to keep by in case.
The pracitioners are a problem. Years later I tried a new homeopath for a minor problem and was told I would need 10 sessions....rubbish. I declined.
How to find a good acupucturist or homeopath is the biggest bug-bear.
I`ll do your roof Daisya as long as it hasn`t got a blasted apex! Not letting an acupuncturist or homeopath near my sore bot! :-)
Question Author
Haha, I wonder are there doctors on here that deal with my problem ?
My brilliant but now retired acupuncturist was a consultant at a well known hospital.
And.........an acupuncturist or homeopath won`t kill you......a doctor may. :-(

so true x
If you tell the acupuncturist that you feel a sensation and you do not, I am not suprised you do not have fantastic results , the therapist can only go on what you say. Therefore , why not be honest and say no when you mean no.
Question Author
My lady asks me if I can feel an ache or what ?
Because GB, I had fantastic results from my first acupuncturist who never asked, just got on with it. If I waited til I felt anything I`d be there `til the cows came home. I said I had very good results. Two sessions to be pain free. I
tamaris I thought you said that when you have a treatment , the accupuncturist asks you if you can feel anything, and although you do not ,you say yes. !
????What happened there?
I`m happy, more than happy with the result. I do know what I`m doing. If I had no relief I would say. :-)
That may have been me GB. The one with the low boredom threshold who has had very successful acupuncture without being asked what I felt.
Question Author
I never said that no
sorry tamaris the last post was meant for gness. If you read her post you will know what i am on about. She said that the therapist asks her to tell her when she has a sensation, but although she does not have one , she says yes. Therefore.she will not feel any benefit from the treatment .
Yikes! I know I DO NOT have to feel anything from previous acupuncture.
New acupuncturist wants to know when I feel something. I probably have a dim body but I don`t feel anything ever. Never had to before and don`t see necessity now.
I DO benefit greatly so I don`t see how you can say I won`t?? First session super pain relief. Second session at her suggestion to make sure. It left me beautifully free and supple. Cartwheeled down her drive. Went clubbing with the grandchildren. Couldn`t be any better if I stayed til I felt something.
I had 3 sessions before I was pain free. The woman was a qualified sports therapist who had trained in acupuncture out of curiosity and she was brilliant. The one who did me the least good was Chinese!
