Sometimes my husband and I like to play " what would we be doing today if we didn't have kids" , I would be shopping for shoes, a cliche i know, but then cliches are cliches for a damned good reason, followed by a boozy lunch somewhere, perhaps a riverside gastro pub and then strolling home, half pisssed to enjoy Saturday night tv. Today I asked my husband what he would be doing right now (it was 3pm approx)  he said " getting dolly dickied up to go to the pub" note the absence of " . . . with you darling" whether my absence from this statement is Freudian we will never know but he also enlightened me to the fact that he would be living with his mum and probably woudn't be working.

Instead I am being forced to sit at the dining table, as the kids have taken over the sofas, forced to watch Justin's house (CBeebies) for the third time today in a house that constantly smells of baby wipes!

So any of you without children, or the grown up variety what are you up to

I'm now going to wait for the 'you don't realise how lucky you are to have children' posse to arrive.
I still am the child! My mum is currently sitting flicking through a magazine because i'm hogging the tv, flicking through the music channels! I'm lovely really :D
My parents took Little Tiggs to get his hair cut earlier. I missed him being at home and he was only gone an hour!
*NOT (being at home)
well, I wouldn't be listening to my two arguing via skype........I wouldn't have a pile of ironing and tidying to do and wouldn't have a playroom full of Sh!te.......think I wouldn't even be living in this house or this city. Moved here for the job as I had the kids to support - if I didn't I'd probably be living in a flat in Edinburgh and now heading out for dinner and few drinks.

I wouldn't swap them though and we are lucky to have them despite them costing the earth and making mess everywhere and being really annoying for a good bit of the day :o)
If I were childless for the weekend without doubt I would go away for a short break
No kids, but grown-up stepchildren and one stepgrandson. I love them all to bits, but I'm glad they are up in Birmingham and we're down here in Gloucestershire. Would quite liked to have had my own, but it never happened. But life's too short to fret about what might have been.

As to what am I up to - same as you, pratting about on Answerbank! x
What am I up to? Well, Having worked my socks off in the garden, and I mean really heavy, hard work, violins playing, I am sitting in the utility room with a glass of red and AB and wondering about three things.
1. Why does soil conditioner really stink? Will have to fumigate car.
2. Why do birds poo on the windows the day AFTER the window cleaner has been and never the day before?
3. How the hell am I going to get up the stairs to the shower if I have any more of this wine?

I love my kids dearly, but just once I would like dinner with my husband without the "mummy, mummy" chorus! For the Sky box to not be used as an alternative to plates! And to be able to watch tv normally without having to clean the petit filous off it first!
lol nelly - believe me it does get better!! I remember being so happy when we had a whole 45 minutes to ourselves :o)
We spent 16 years saying the same, would love to have time to ourselves (we had 5 kids in 5 years) now the youngest are 20 and we don't know what to do. Spent the whole time out and about with them. Really miss those days, guess its the old saying you don't know what you've got till its gone.
