I'm a guy aiming to grow my hair to match http://www.livingtv.co.uk/images/good-hair-cha ce-crawford.jpg (shame I look nothing like the guy either)

my hair is probably a couple inches off this, do I go in and ask the person to style my hair so it grows into that style or do I wait until it is that length?? plus....what do I even ask for! without taking in the picture what is a good way to desribe this look?

Thanks

S555,
find a really good hairdresser & print that pic off. Just say you want it eventually to look like that & can you cut it to that style. If you really dont want it any shorter than the length you have it at now, then wait a bit x
Toni and Guy Stylist Here:

Worst thing to do is to go to the salon and ask for a cut that is longer than your current hair!! You will be wasting your money! I would suggest that you leave your hair to grow longer... if its a couple of inches shorter... that is quite a lot of hair!! Check how long a couple of inches is!

Once you do have your hair to the required length!! You should just ask for a style like Chace Crawford or graduted layers! just give a description of the style! Most good hairstylists would be able to work out what you were wanting to achieve!!
Ask the stylist to trim & shape the perimeter only till the rest grows to the required length. The picture will help explaining what you want.
