going from red to blonde

in the past 12 months i've gone from black to red to black and back to red again. The first time i had my hair stripped 3 times, and it came up enough to be dyed a deep but vibrant red, then i went back to black, and then 6 months ago i had it stripped agin - this time it took one dose of effersol to get it light enough. I'd really like to go blonde, mostly to use the blonde as a base for water based vibrant colours like Fudge Paintbox, Stargazer and Crazy colors. How likely is it that my hair will bleach up enough to go blonde? i want to try and arrange to get a strand test done ASAP, but am wondering if it'll be worth the trip if there's no chance of getting my hair to go blonde. Does anyone know?

TIA

your hair sounds as if it was nice both colors, when i used to do my hair Deep Mahogany i stripped it myself using blond dyes *not bleaches* yeah it took 12 wks altogether but it turned out fine and im blond now and light enuf to use any vibrant color i choose, not that i can at 50 rofl but you should be ok in the long run
Any hair can be any shade of blonde with professional products and preferably with an experienced colorist. Grey hair is the most resistant but even that can be overcome with pre-lightening. You would need 60v peroxide which is only available to salons.

thanks both for your answers, i've left my hair sample at the hairdressers and will see the results next week. I think my main worry is i've been growing my hair for 4 years and it's mid back length now, and i don't want to have to lose to much of the lenght, but fear i may have to. will let you know how i get on
No reason why you should lose any length unless you want it re-styled. Coloring doesn't shorten hair.

no, but the ends are quite dry so i will have to lose a couple of inches off the length cos bleaching can be quite harsh
