Can anyone recommend a good foundation, staying power, but not too heavy but not as light as a tinted moisturiser, it's for a special evening. Also, an eye shadow make that doesn't crease, preferably a powder one. I do apply foundation to my eyelids as advised, but still seem to get a crease eventually.

Bugs - I have just been converted to ' Max Factor' AGE RENEW foundation. Can't advise on an eyeshadow, haven't bought one in ages.

Thanks for your quick reply, I'll have a look at it. Forgot to ask about mascara?? Whether I use waterproof or whatever, my daughter said I always get a black smudge under my eyes. I try & apply it so carefully.
i always go in to boots and ask the make up lady . she is always very helpful . they know what is best .
Bugs - Hi, I don't know how old you are, but I personally could not make a good job of putting my mascara on without the aid of a good quality magnifying mirror on a stand. I bought one from ' Boots ' which has the option of a light you can turn on for those darker mornings! ( can't see a thing in a normal mirror )It's by ' Revlon ' Also, regard's you smudging your mascara, try holding a small tissue under your bottom lashes while applying it. I don't really think it matters whether you buy a normal mascara or a waterproof one, unless you intend to go swimming.
After spending years trying a good foundation i have tried
MAC foundation sp15 since last year.
You would need a speck of foundation for the all face. It blend well and quick too. Look good all day and i no longuer use powder afterwards its that good.
My daughter has a terrible complexion and her make up needed to be "reviewed" by make up experts.
We were chatting to` the Mac girls at the store about this subject [make up crease].
We were advised to use a primer, so far it is working for the both of us.

Thanks everyone for yr answers. I know Mac range is supposed to be good, but living in a suburban area, I would have to travel 15 miles to Nottingham or go to Meadowhall, the local towns don't seem to stock other than the usual range of cosmetics. We have a good Boots store & Debenhams too, but alas not Mac or Benefit etc. Also in the shopping malls, you can't tell in artificial light how a base will look on yr skin in natural light.
thats the beauty with those products they will last you forever slightly more expensive but worth the trip every 6 months.
Your Debenhams may stock Urban Decay who make a wonderfull eye shadow 'primer potion',....I have oily eyelids and my makeup stays put for 8-10 hours. brilliant!!!You could also try the Urban Decay website.

I really like Estee Lauder Double Wear. Good coverage, but not heavy or thick. Oil Free with an SPF and a little goes a long way. In my local boots they colour match it to your skin colour and give you a tester (about two weeks worth) in a small bottle. They have lots of colours so you end up with a good match. About 21 but it does last ages and it is really nice.
The other day I used a lancome eye shadow which didn't crease, I really liked it - all day it stayed on crease free!
