neck clicking

I have to click my neck regularly, due to having hypermobility, otherwise i can't move it, so I have no choice - however just lately I have noticed when I click it one way I get a slight twinge in my thumb, as it clicks. Obviously this is touching the nerve, causing this - why has this started happening and what can i do? Do you think this is dangerous? I really don't know what else I can do to make my neck unstuck.

Thanks

i don't know how old you are or if you have any family history but it could be that you have some degenerative change of arthritis in the cervical vertebrae in your neck. This would then occasionaly press on the nerves running through these bones down to your fingers. This could especially be the case if you have arthritis in other places. Just a thought.....may be completly wrong!

I had that when I was stuck to a computer 8 hours a day.

Try a good osteopath or chiropractor - they give a lovely deep massage to relax all your back muscles and also determine if any of your vertebrae are malaligned.I suspect this is probably the case.I could barely walk 100 yds a couple of months ago and discovered that a chunk at hte base of my spine were malaligned and now I'm back to normal. (physically anyway)
