Since When Were We Being Robbed By Soap Companies?

I've just got in the bath and opened a soap whose name rhymes with "Yield" Zesty lemon if you know the one and i was astounded to find that a quarter of the bar was missing which in fairness did make it slightly easier to hold then the old shape but this means that after i had opened and inspected each soap to see whether this was a machinery mistake which it wasn't that we're still being charged for the price of 4 soaps even though it actually only weighs the same as 3 of the old ones! Chocolates and foods have shrunk, crisps are now filled with 80% of air and now this! I will be off the a store that rhymes with "Fresco" tomorrow to demand my money back and ask the manager what the hell is going on. I hate sleeping with an angry mind but to say i'm furious is an understatement. If you're unaware that we're being scammed like this i'll suggest you check all your soaps before you retire for the night as like i'm going to do now to see just how deep this goes. Good evening all.

Everything shrinks when you're in the bath.
Depends on how cold the water is, fred !.
Happens all the time. I notice it more on food as I note what I eat since I'm trying to lose weight, and often see the food manufacturers are trying to help me out by selling me less for my money and assuming I won't notice because the packing is the same.
I'm unsure a retailer will want to take back a used soap. Even an unused unwrapped one, they'd not know what you did with it. Best accept it as a lesson for the future.

(Pound shops in particular get special sizes to ensure the price is right.)
So, you are unhappy that your soap bars have reduced in size? What's to complain about? Manufacturers of all kinds of things reduce size, weight, pack size etc. rather than increase price by hefty amounts....something
that you would, no doubt, be "furious" about, too.
As long as weights are printed clearly on the pack...the rest is down to you. Don't buy if you feel that aggrieved.
Is it only me that read Grandpaw;s post to mean that a quarter of the bar had been removed, making it easier to hold like a sort of gun shape?

Sorry, I am under sedation LOL.
mamy: it took a few reads to make sense of it!
and they don't smell the way they used to

No idea, grandpaw - we haven't bought solid soap bars for years.
This is extremely common practice...all sorts of products are morphig into smaller sizes priced the same or even more. Don't blame the shop..its the manufacturer... They set the price and the size. So...maybe its Proctor and Gamble
Arghh...posted too soon.
Its these guys you need to shout at... http://www.shieldsoap.co.uk
Shield Soap is £1 for a four bar pack in Asda....just how cheap would you like it, Grandpaw?
Ive recently started using the bar soap that rhymes with glove. Love it!
