I can't answer the last bit but here goes for the rest...

Of COUSE you get a tan whilst wearing sun tan lotion! :-D  What you shouldn't get is burnt.. which reduces the risk of skin cancer.  You should always wear a factor 20 or higher, a minimum of 30 for your first 3-5 days in the sun (I think).  Redheaded people, or those with very pale skin may even need a factor 50.  The different spf are just different strengths, but none is total protection.  Therefore some sun will get through and you will get brown.

That website may offer more information - it certainly looks very good at a glance.

The basic answer is that if you wear sun tan lotion and remember to top it up, you'll avoid looking like a lobster and you won't get wrinkles so quickly when you get older! :-)

You really should use suncream!!

Ive just come back off hol and used factor 15 the whole week and I came back with a pretty good tan!!

I dont see why people are so fussed with tans though - it it just damaging the skin!
