trouble with dresses that have side seams.? I have a few thinner type dresses ,polyester. floaty dresss that always do not sit right on the hips. The side seams seem to stick out.? and then the material goes straight again. These dresses are not too tight so how can I stop it happening.? Brenda x

And of a smaller size Lilac. I usually find it`s because they have an overlocked seam. If fabric allows I have changed them to flat seams with Vs clipped out. Not always possible I know but have no other solution.

gness thankyou. I am feeling a bit dim today. lol. do you mean undo the overlocked stiches on the edge and then put v's in the material so it flattens.? Brenda x
Often it is because the seam has been made with the tension too tight by the manufacturer I have been known to unpick the seams completely and re sew then
Hi Lilac. If there is enough fabric cut off or open overlocked seam. Sew a new seam about half an inch in. Cut out a few Vs so that when you press the seams open they will lie flat on the hip area. If it is a generous floaty fabric the Vs may not be necessary. Not great at getting across what`s in my head but hope this helps.
