I'm going on holiday in a few months and don't want to look all pale, I am naturally fair and have dyed blonde hair.
I have now and then used a tanning moisturiser which I find very good but I would like to use fake tan for this holiday out of interest really, but I've never even touched a bottle of tan before! Just too scared of the possible blotchiness I could get!! Also don't want that fake tan blonde look!

Are there any tips to an even tan? I have heard exfoliating is a key thing! I literally have no idea at all though! And do you need a different fake tan for your face to your body!? I lack beauty knowledge!

Thanks for any help.

xoxo.

My friend has the Fake Bake spray on tan done, it looks great on her, but she goes brown easily. If you do decide to get one, don't do it yourself for the holiday, unless you get some practise in first, the last thing you want is to lay on the beach in a cossie with lovely streaky legs. My experiences of fake tans (being milk bottle white) have always ended in disaster so I stick to the gradual tanners, for me Palmers Natural Bronzer is the best on the market, but I mix it half and half with mousturiser and just use it everyday, pain I know. I use this one on my face but you can, and probably should use a special one for the face (widely available). Exfoliate before application, but make sure any shaving, waxing or Epilation of hairs are done a couple of days before to ensure the pores have closed, else you may end up with little brown dots where the an has gathered, don't mousturise immediately before application, it may create a barrier. Crap being fair sometimes isn't it?

Maybe I should just hit the salon for a spray tan but I would really like to be able to do it myself but I am concerned. I think rocky, those tanning moiturisers are the most natural-looking and safest way for a very fair person to not look like a corpse! Oh dear! It is difficult being a girl! Thanks for your response!
I tan every week.

Fake bake you can get for fair skin....

You MUST exfoliate. I use fake bake scrub. I dont use showergel or deod durinh or after the shower i am going to tan after.

It is chocolate brown therefore fool proof because aslong as white bits are covered they will tan. I dont even rub it right in it looks streaky but aslong as no whites showing ill be fine!

Avoid too much on elbows they only need a wipe over and hands with whats left on the gloves u use to tan. Dont forget inbetween fingers and behind eara and up neck. I use the one fakebake on my face and body x
Tinks, you mean you just slap it on, it can go on unevenly but won't streak. Might give it a whirl if that's the case. I've had spray tans and St Tropez's done professionally but they've all streaked.
Don't bother, there has never been a fake tan yet that does not look obviously fake.
Honestly yeah! My mates rub it in.. I slap it on aslong as theres no "normal" skin showing you will tan. It also only goes so dark.

I use fakebake scrub simply cos its designed to not "interact" with the tan. Same with showergel etc. shave before tanning- i use the scrub for that too lol!!

I slap it all over- dry a bit and go to bed. Body absorbs better when asleep. I even manage my own back- lol im a pro!!!! Xx
My go to Superdrug tomorrow then, thanks tinks.

I have seen that fake bake stuff around, do you really not get any blotches tinks? Does sound like your very pro however, would a total tan-avoider like me be able to do it!?

Mcrosky - how did she come across such a mixture?? I've never heard of that!

Defo id say. Im only good cos ive done it alot.

Never had a disaster. Sticks to dry skin so exfoliate as much as possible and use a mitt or cloth to help exfoliate! Esp across my cheeks i find!!

I use disposable gloves to avoid minging palms. After doing my body i keep one glove on and use a tiny bit on my hand remebering to bend fingers and remember the thumb and inbetween fingers!!! Then stuck the glove on the "done" hand and do the other.

When doinh my arms i avoid the elbow and then smooth over once
Or twice- dont want a brown elbow lol xx
Oh ps rocky my superdrug dosent sell it! I use "fake bake original" but i usually get it online or the sunbeds round here etc yours might though xxx

Thats amazing! I didn't realise turmeric was used to decorate skin with henna. Of course I know it stains your hands well when you use it in cooking! Wish I had an excuse (or knew someone) who knew how to do henna. Think its lovely!
