What does 'KVA' stand for and what are the mathematical equations for working out 'KVA'?

kVA stands for kilovolt-amperes, and there are various equations here:

VA is Volt Amps, and kilo is a thousandfold. It's a measure of power. It is similar to watts (W=V*A), but given in the form VA when the load concerned draws a fluctuating current, like AC motors.
