CANINE HAEMORRHAGIC GASTRO ENTERITIS?

Anyone know how/if this is or can be transmitted from one dog to another? I have read up a bit about it and it is not conclusive, apart from the mention of internal parasities.

.the write ups indicate that it seems to me a hyper reaction to something which in another dog would only cause a lesser response so is it an infective disease? no. It seems to be a group of rather serious symptoms. What I can't see is whether there is any familial or breed tendency ie related or same breed dogs might have the same tendency to hyper react

of course that is the current state of knowledge. Years ago we didn't know that stomach ulcers were caused by an infection.

I have heard of two dogs in same house getting it, leading the owner to think it is infectious, but I am wondering if it is the internal parasites that are infectious, resulting in HGE?

even then, the point with CHGE is that something that will give one dog a slight tum upset triggers CHGE in another. I have two litter brothers and when they were pups and got puppy tum upsets, they both got the ulcerated intestine which causes the bloody runs. They were never seriously ill with it but always needed a visit to the vet and treatment (antibis) to clear it. The vet reckoned that they likely responded the same way because they are related. anyway happily they grew out of it (touching wood)
so are the dogs related?

Not sure if they are related, one is young, the other is quite old. Both been very very poorly though and in the vets on a drip. The youngest was in shock.

just a thought, are sure SURE it was CHGE? From my research, its diagnosed as that by ruling out everything else ie its what they call that group of symptoms when there is no other precipitating cause.
