Does anyone know how i can get a powerpoint slide show to be the background image of my desktop?  i'm working on windows xp. thanks

If all else fails use an image editor and take a screen capture of it, save it as a jpg and then select this jpg image as your wallpaper.
I might be wrong, but I think you probably cannot have more than one image (as in a PP presentation) as your background. It's a different matter with your screensaver, you could use the PP images as a slideshow for that. I have 40 photos of my home town as my slideshow screensaver. I'll describe how to do that if you want.
there is software that you can download that will change you wallpaper at selected intervals - stick wallpaper swapper or something like that into google

 

An example of what Phantaxus suggests is available free from microsoft. It's one of thier free powertools for windows XP.

Just do  a search on Microsoft power tools.

 

....but....if I understand correctly try this. Go to your desk top and press the print screen key. Open powerpoint. Hold down the Ctrl key and press the v key.  (This should paste an image of your desktop onto the current slide. Go to Slide show...view show. Voila !!!
