The code in chapter 44 is the string of numbers that Saunier wrote on the floor - the Fibonacci sequence.

Yup, it relates to the naturally recurring sequence in natur.  Starting with one, it's the sum of the previous two numbers.  i.e. (1+0) 1 (1+1)2 (2+1)3 (3+2)5 (5+3)8 ...
