Why has society readily accepted lack of respect and lawlessness that seems strife in this once great country ??

Was the pivot point when the Thacherite government stopped caning young adults at school , thus leading to teachers having lack of authority and this leading to lack of respect for the law in this country , your views please?...... have we reaped what we have sowed??

Bring back the birch. Thrash the little sh1ts.

I presume you meant to say "rife".

WE AIM TO PLEASE.
no that was not the pivotal point. children should not have physical violence visited upon them, there are other ways to discipline that are far more effective.
Nonsense. You should hit your kids every day. If you don'y know why, they will.

WE AIM TO PLEASE.

Being taught how to behave, good manners and respect can be taught perfectly well without violence.

Authority and physical punishment are not the same thing.
This is where we have lost the plot.

Look at any nature film, a naughty lion cub at some point will get a swipe from the parent.

Kids need a slap when they cross the line, simple as.

It is the stupid people who think it is wrong to slap a child who are responsible for the situation to-day.

Youngsters now believe themselves to be invincible, read the papers.
the problem with kids today is that they are given no boundaries or taught to respect others. I did not realise this until I moved house, my next door neighbours have shown me how to raise unruly children.

* give in to every whim and tantrum
*ignore them if they are climbing on neighbours fences or looking through their windows
* never carry any punishment through, threats of grounding for a 5 year old calling a woman in the street a f****** b!*** are just talk, never acted upon
I would bring back thrashing to within an inch of life. I went to school one day wearing socks which were not of a sober hue, and I was thrashed to within an inch of my life. This was an English public school and it made me what I am now. Lucky England.
Yes, please bring back the cane!
I was slapped on the behind in my childhood whenever i did anything wrong and its not done me anything wrong.
The police and teachers should be allowed to batter these little s***s and bring law and order into the country!
They should be able to thrash them to death and just say "I got a bit over-excited" and the magistrate would say "Oh alright run along then, don't do it too often"
Isn't it a question of degree though? Those that are consistently exposed to physical abuse end up with more problems that the "slap" seeks to cure.

I know the threat of a spanking was used from time to time when we were kids. But to be honest, the threat of "you wait til your father gets home" was worse (I don't remember him ever hitting us). I am sure we had the odd spanking from mum, but I don't remember it, I tend to the view that it was a reasonably rare occurrence. As a result I like to think that my siblings and I grew up as fairly well balanced useful individuals (apart perhaps from my involvement in this place)!!!

I DO however remembering threatening to call the NSPCC and reporting mum for child cruelty when my mother banished me and my sister to our rooms one day following a particularly nasty fight between us. So she looked the number up, handed me the phone and told me to go ahead. Now THAT worked!!! lol

I once intervened in the street when a woman was screaming at her hysterical toddler that she was going to "pull down your fekkin pants and tan your fekkin arse and fekkin give you something to fekkin cry about". THAT sort of behaviour in my view is more of a threat to society than sparing the rod.

Hence children grow up thinking that violence is the way to end all evils and things they disagree with.
I'm 27 so don't have too much experience of life, but seriously I did go to public school, and seriously I was severely punished for wearing socks not of a sober hue. It made a man of me.

That used to happen at my school Whiffy. I got a rap across the knuckles for taking my regulation school skirt in and not wearing regulation knickers.

They never caught me for anything worse though.
