Some years back an american newspaper (which had been circulating for several years) suddenly and for no apparent reason, started making spelling mistakes. There was no change in staff or duties. The errors were not caused by machinery, technical changes or methodology. Most matters remained the same.It was not done on purpose. Later on they apologized and gave the explanation for the mistakes. The whole thing was rather funny and crazy. What was it?

I do not know the answer, otherwise why post the question? This is a serious question from a serious radio programme. I will know the correct answer when someone (hopefully myself) gives it to the radio. Your answer Aquariel is wrong. Technical equipment is not involved. Please try again. Thanks.
YOU'VE ASKED THIS BEFORE http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Media-and-TV/Qu estion566031.html
WHAT IS YOUR OBSESSION WITH THIS?

I once worked for a newspaper and at times I was asked to write/type copy. Casual staff came in at wkends and typed and sometimes even the sales teams typed for print. Many people in editoral, production, sales contribute to the typed word in press and some can't spell. When I did this job is was on ancient macs with only the program required, no spell check, no internet.

I hope this answers your question, no conspiricy...
Maybe the writer had fat fingers
Next time you're at the shops see if you can buy a life
"say something once, why say it again?"
I'm sick of seeing this question!
You've asked this at least twice before- in May and July. Why not ask the radio station that told the story.
Maybe the journalist who dictated his reports developed a lisp and the audio typist typed what she heard
Fifth time this has been asked...
Stop asking... If none of these answers are suitable, we don't know. STOP ASKING.
I agree.

Yet I am intrigued mwah mwah ... (or presumable mhaw mhaw if it had apprd in thaat ppaer druing the preiod in qesion)
