I'm taking advanced higher english this year and trying to decide on a dissertation theme. I recently read some Nicholas Sparks novels, but i don't know if he's a suitable author. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd be grateful.

my theme is the nature of madness and mental illness. im studying the bell jar by sylvia plath, one flew over the cuckoos nest by ken kesey and the trick is to keep breathing by janice galloway. a lot of people are doing the whole individual against society angle with books such as catcher in the rye. someone is doing the oppresion of women, using the handmaid's tail and memoirs of a geisha. another person is donig some sort of satire angle with catch 22 and various war poetry. i thnk there are also a few people doing trilogies or 3 books by the same author. one girl is studying all three bronte sisters. hope this is of help to u. good luck.
