Oil painting

I have done a painting using oil paints, although it is dry the colour is still coming off. What can I do to stop this happening? Thanks

An oil painting should be coated with a protective varnish. However, it can take six months to a year for an oil painting to dry thoroughly enough to apply a thin, finishing layer.
