Does anybody know if there is a technical/literal (that's probably an oxymoron) term for 2 words that are usually found together, such as 'salt & pepper', 'nuts & bolts' etc?

Collocations or lexical collocations, specifically. Chambers defines those as "the habitual placing together of one specific word with one or more other specific word or words".
