I worked in South Africa many years ago when circumstances were very shocking to me (1984). I learned a language called Fanaglo which is a cross betweem English. Africanns and Zulu. My most enduring memories are of those wonderful people I tried to communicate with in Fanagalo, can anyone please help me find a dictionary of this language?

Many thanks

Hambisa mina lo HELP,

Kanjani?
There are many references to 'Fanakalo' on Google in this context. There is a dictionary produced by the SA Chamber of Mines available for English/Afrikaans/Fanakalo. (Search along the lines of 'Miners' dictionary: English-Fanakalo = Woordeboek vir mynwerkers : Afrikaans-Fanakalo').
But read the section entitled 'Pigin Fanakalo' here. It might be politic these days to go for one of the other variants.
