What is the past tense (perfect/simple) of 'knit' and 'dive'?

In British English, 'knitted' and 'dived'. In US English, it seems to be 'knit' and 'dove'. They seem to have a similar use of the past tense of 'fit', too.

And they reckon we're strange!!
