Is cinematography a particular photographic language? Or is it directly linked to film and motion-picture production?

Cinematography is the filming of a movie on celluloid, with a movie camera. The cinematographer is the person on a filmset that works closely with a director to determine the visual style of the film in terms of shots and lighting. He or she is also in charge of the gaffers(people with work physically with lights and accessories) and grips(people who work with the equipment a film camera will be mounted on ect.)

The cinematography is also known as the 'direction of photography' which is basically an art of motion picture by recording light or electromagnetic radiation. If you want to read more about cinematography then I would suggest you to just take a look at http://www.wearefireflymedia.com/
