Picasso's boy with pipe sold for $104 million I think the second is that truly hideous vase of sunflowers by Van Gogh which sold for $54 million

Opps it was the painting 'Adele Bloch-Bauer' sold for 73 MIL .

Most expensive is Gustav Klimt's Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I - sold for $135 million on June 18, 2006.

Second most is Gar�on � la pipe by Pablo Picasso
which was sold for $104.1 million on May 4, 2004.

It is all academic as I don't think any of us will be buying them any time soon!

Yep, the Jackson Pollack has broken the record since the original post - $140 million IIRC from yesterday's paper which has just gone in the recycling sack and which I can't be bothered to retrieve.
