Hmm. It looks like this question really belongs in 'Quizzes & Puzzles'. (Please don't post them here).

If it is a crossword question, it would have helped if we knew how many letters. If it happens to be (4,8), then the answer is probably 'high sounding'.

Inkhorn term is the correct answer as Jno has said Winifred ..if this is from Saturdays GK crossword in the DT.
