Hi There,
You Could try sticking a piece of Insulation Tape , or a piece off Gaffer tape over the area you wish to Drill the hole, Use a small diameter Drill as the pilot hole then increase the the drill size. You should remove the Tape carefully after drilling and Hopefully you will have a hole in the shell without the shell breaking. Good Luck. Regards Alligator.

You could try a high powered precision laser, bit pricey though
:-)
An ordinary drill bit will probably become blunt very quickly. You could have a look for a ceramic tile/glass drill bit. These come in various sizes (you'd probably want the smallest) and are shaped like a spear. Put a piece of masking tape where you want to drill - it'll help stop the bit from slipping when you start.
