Or is this another publicity stunt to sell more books?

I think the best ending would be to kill off both Voldemort AND Harry, then it's all happy at the end cos there's no more threat, but we lose the main character. If that happens though, it'd be interesting to do it in a public place... full of muggles and everything.
gosh after saving his friends and ridding the school of evil, and putting his life at risk and suffering the death of parent/sireuis and dumbledore does'nt harry deserve to win and live happily in the end, fingers crossed he makes it. i honestly dont think jk needs any publcity stunts to sell more books these books just fly off the shelves.
You got it in one, metagirl.

i don't think they will kill Harry off - JK says she does not want anyone to continue the saga after she's gone - but it is a shame there can't be a happy ending!
I hope Harry dies, I don't like him, but I hope he is killed in a big fight with Voldemort, I would hate to see some cheesy twist where Harry has to kill himself for Voldemort to be killed.
JKs been hinting at the death of Harry since book 6 came out, it's nothing new! Either Voldemort OR Harry have to die, but we don't know who. Like devilwoman said, JKdoesn't need publicity stunts! I don't think she'll do publicuity stunts anyway, she's not greedy! If you've read all the books (so far) you will know about the Harry/Voldemort thing, if not then hold judgement of JK until you have! It's the last book anyway so who cares if he dies?
i care cos i really love a happy ending, still have'nt forgiven jk for killing dumbledore lol
She couldn't do it - I'm not exadderating but I seriously think there are some fans who are crazed enough they would give her death threats and serious abuse.

Apparently since she hinted this, she has already received hate mail, she wouldn't do it.
i think you're right neenynanu, some people are so crazy they think its real, while most of us get swept up in the tide of emotion where harry's concerned we draw the line at threats/abuse and stalking ect cos we know non of its true just fantasy which we all need in our lives. yes i was shocked when dumbledore died but hey i'll get over it. and we all will if harry dies eventually.
neenynanu, if he dies shes already done it, she wrote the last chapter of book 7 way back in 1990 and only edited it once, so i don't think she cares what the fans do to be honest
I think the best ending for the book would be to have Harry and Voldemort dead. Even though it would be sad, JK Rowling said there will be no more Harry Potter books after this. People will be wondering, "What is Harry's life going to be like after Hogwarts." Then people would know what happened to Harry. I think that is the proper way to end the book.
