I think if you look closely, the real kid is replaced by a dummy for the impact, and this is carefully disguised by the use of birds flying up in the foreground. With computer-generated imagery it's amazing what can be done these days. You have to suspend reality for the advert, because it claims that the car is doing 35mph, but it's a Nissan Sunny, and I've never seen one doing more than 30mph, even on a motorway. I don't believe that they are capable of 35mph so there is clearly some trickery going on there.
manutdstott, I totally agree with the shock factor of this advert. The other one for me is where the boy in the back seat causes the death of his mother. I think both are so "simple" that the effect is startling.
Yeah, it's a dummy; seen a docu. about this ad.
i totaly agree with you guys but the British speeding/drink driving adverts are tame compared with Australian ones i only got to see them on Tarant on tv but they are horrific in the detail they use.Th one that sticks in my mind is a drink driving one you see a guy having a drink in a bar then a dad playing with his two boys the drink driver sets off the phone rings the dad answers it and the drunk driver mounts the curb flips over and crushes the little boy to death it ends with the father holding his dead son and a message saying one more?Say no.
I take it that no-one on the mainland has seen the drink driving advert that has been doing the rounds here in NI for a while then? The one where the little kids are playing football in their garden and then you see a young guy playing sunday league and then going to the pub with his mates for a few, then on the way home he swerves and rolls the car into the garden crushing the kid? Truly shocking.
If its the one I think you are on about.... the key is the bird (pigeon I think) that flies in front of the camera just before the impact of the car. This is the frame where they switched the real boy for a dummy when they put it all together. Hope that makes sense.
