Selling crosswords

I ahve been writeing some crosswords, does anyone have any info on how to sell them? ie agents. thanks, Hamish

I have never submitted a crossword to a paper, so these disconnected ideas may not be worth the memory they're occupying. However�
Make sure the crosswords you're sending fit the style and difficulty of the publication you're sending to. Solve a reasonable number to check.
The Times has about 90 stock grids and it's no use submitting a crossword on a grid you made up yourself.
According to "The Crossword Obsession" by Coral Amende, American puzzle editors will send you a style sheet, if you ask. I don't know about British ones.

Don't get discouraged until your pile of rejection slips is taller than you are. Every one you do will be better than the one before.


Don't expect to make a living at it - it's a buyers' market. (Not that that's why you want to do it, I know)

Thanks folks, I have a friend doing one and hes struggleing (he usually does the telegraph). I think I would go mad if I did it for a living, but it helps me relax as its quite thought consuming.....Ta
