This is an incorrect phrase as a debutant is new so therefore the word 'new' is redundant. Is there a word for this faux pas in Grammar?

I think tautology best sums up your example where the same meaning is repeated. Pleonasm more describes redundant words like saying "for free" instead of just "free".

Pleonasm
or tautology
I thought about tautology - perhaps redundancy ?

tautology - something like manually by hand

whereas new doesnt really mean debutante

ya dont talk about a debutante bar of soap whereas it could be new
Hate it when people say adjacent to.
o god did I say adjacent ?
