Graham Greene, Kingsley Amis, Ernest Hemingway, Ralph Ellison, Doris Lessing, Rosamund Lehman, Elizabeth Bowen.  Their work isn't confined to the 50's but I'd have thought they were among the leading lights.  There are loads of other novelists as well as poets and playwrights.
