A publisher has invited himself to submit the book he is writing (yay), but I have just had to proof-read the first fifty pages (boo).

Brilliant news (and proof-reading's really important!).
What type of book is it?

My cat is writing a cat book - he hasn't written much yet.

It's about a navy destroyer in WWII (yawn).
Drat...I thought this was another AB romance......sorry Mr B00.
I hope that he has the facts straight - I have a friend who almost freaks out if historical or technical details are incorrect.

Good luck to him.
I'vejust finished proofing a book about Dover in WW1 - it actually got quite interesting as it progressed. However, it doesn't really matter what it's about, it's checking for errors and spelling and grammar mistakes, and does it make sense to you?!
Question Author
It does make sense but any bits that are muddled I have pointed it out - there's load of techie bits and navy speak so some of might be factually correct. Not looking forward to proof-reading the whole thing though.
You're right, you just have to trust the author on the techie bits. Most of my corrections are usually peculiar punctuation.... when someone gets on a roll, they forget to breathe on paper!

Boxtops, are you a professional proof-reader?
sherr, did this destroyer actually exist ?.
Question Author
I've no idea - it's a fiction book so probably not. Too be fair, it's not my cup of tea but I was quite impressed with what he's done.
Have proof read most of my SiL's books, really enjoyed it. Great to feel useful again.
Hey sherr, well done him.
Keep up the good work Sherr. Good for you both.
