I might be being a bit dim but... When writing a birthday card should both words start with a capital letter i.e Happy Birthday.

I want to SHOUT my birthday greetings, but being timid allow myself a Capital for Happy and Birthday. Also looks better.

Christmas is a proper noun, birthday isn't.
