Just watching QT with, most unfortunately, Russell Brand among the panel members.

Two questions should have been put to the panel:

1. Why is Mr Brand such an obnoxious mouthy slob?

2. Why did the BBC invite him on to the show, especially bearing in mind his appalling behaviour in the Andrew Sachs affair?

Being mouthy and obnoxious is usually a cover for having no talent.

I gave up watching QT about 2 years ago, I got sick of the bias.
Being mouthy and obnoxious is usually a cover for having no talent.
Well they let Melanie Phillips on, so it seems only fair to give other equally objectionable people a go.
And actually for the first time ever I actually warmed to Mr Brand on QT this evening ...

What has made you warm to Mr Brand this evening?
His savaging of the bankers, quite simply.
I thought his article on the riots was surprisingly insightful.

I still am not a fan of his you understand, but I don't see that the Andrew Sachs affair should continue to follow him around.
I find NJ's question rather bizarre ...

I can't stand Russell Brand. It's nothing to do with Sachs-gate; I just never found him funny. But if there's one thing which will make me reach for the off-button on the telly quicker than seeing RB, it's the realisation that 'Question Time' is about to start; it's all so predictable. Perhaps RB was brought in precisely to ensure that there was at least one contributor whose input to the debate couldn't be known in advance?

Also, while I'm no great fan of RB, it's possible that his recent piece for the Guardian is one of the best articles that they've published this year:

Yes it was a bad day for broadcasting that. But I still don't see why they should be persecuted for it. it was hardly the crime of the century. And Russell Brand IS an intelligent person as chrisgel's link proves even if I don't agree with all of it.
I agree that QT has become a bit predictable. There are too many panellists who appear too often. All the more reason for celebrating therefore when we have people like RB, especially when you know he's going to be talking politics and not trying to be funny :-)

Thank god it's now over.

It's a great shame about Mr Brand because, as has been said, he is probably quite intelligent. However his manner is such that I had to mute my TV whenever he spoke.

The reason the Andrew Sachs affair should continue to him is because his behaviour during that episode towards an eighty year old man was reprehensible. Any employer worth its salt (which BBC is not) would never allow the perpetrator to darken their doors ever again.

Thanks for all your replies. They gave me something to do when I had muted Mr Brand :-)

Can't stand Russell brand at all.
Even long before Sachsgate... I never found this gobby lad funny. His kind of "humour" is usually a cover up for having NO talent whatsoever. In that, he is not alone. Many THINK they're funny, but they're just loud , gobby and common. Does ANYONE really, I mean REALLY, like Brand?
For me, Russell Brand is on a par with Janet Street-Porter - and that isn't a compliment.
Well I am one of the few who does actually like Russell Brand. Each to their own. The world would be a very noting place if we all liked the same things!
*boring.....not noting!
I cant stand the bloke myself. Any programme that he appears on i reach for the off button. He always looks such a scruff too.
