Here's what the email said.............

Reacher novel #16 is the prequel explaining one of the most debated mysteries concerning Reacher's years in the Army. What made him leave the only life he'd known to become a loner, wanderer, a man who has everything he needs and nothing he doesn't?
I must admit that I saw a critics review a few weeks ago and they said it is not his best.

However, I shall still read it and make up my own mind.
I too shall read it and make up my own mind, after all no matter how good an author is he's bound to have an off day every now and then and some books are bound to be better then others. But lets face it his standard is pretty high and even his worst is a dam sight better then a lot of authors best
Absolutely paddywak - I will take an inferior Reacher novel, and there have been a couple - over a lot of the so-called 'better' series.

That's one of my birthday presents sorted then.
Think Lee Childs is excellent but, think that Michael Connolly is on at least a par, as is Linwood Barclay.B.

I'm reading a lot of Peter James at the moment, and really enjoying them.
One of my favourite authors, I'm looking forward to reading it. Harlen Coben is good too, and Michael Connelly,
hiya - anyone have a review on the one that's set in the first person? It's about number 7 and i can't recall what it's called.
i downloaded a sample on the kindle and can't decide whether i like it or not (enough to spend a fiver). So far he's shot a policeman (supposedly) and picked up a young heir and been admitted to the house

The Persuader (7) is excellent..............
ok, perhaps i'll give it a go
Andy, did you see our man along with Dennis Lehane on the morning news programme on BBC TV a few weeks ago? Interesting stuff. I'd never even heard of Lehane, but I have read two or three of his novels since. Excellent, though not in the same vein as Child's "superhero" mould. If interested, have a look at 'Shutter Island'.

Of course, I'll be in the queue for 'The Affair', too!
I didn't QM - but will check him out, thanks for the tip.
I thought he'd killed Reacher off. I enjoy Jeffrey Deaver too
craft,I've just finished another Peter James, he is fast becoming a favourite of mine. Thanks for the tip about The Affair.
