We have all been tuped over to a new contracter including managment.

My question is this,

Are they allowed to alter our custom and practice, as we where given a memo this morning saying we had to work bank holidays and changes to working practices - all of which will be communicated in detail closer to the time, we are expect to start working bank holidays in May this year.
I asked my supervisor who said it was verbaly agreed at our induction day, doe's this stand as an agreement, as we where informed but no one agreed to anything.

under custom and practice for the last 15 to 20 years we worked saturday's to catch up and had the bank holiday off but our manager saying he can make us work it as it is in our contract
If you're outside UK your contract/employment laws would be different to ours.

I am not out side the uk
As long as they give appropriate notice they can change your terms and conditions. They don't need your explicit agreement to the changes, although a good employer would use consultation and listen to other ideas
